Elder on Session: Libby Sheppard

Mission ministry focuses on spreading the love of Jesus through our works with others, both globally and locally.  We participate in Presbyterian offerings that include One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peacekeeping and Joy Gift With the funds that our congregation retains, we further our work with our own youth as well as our outreach to the young ladies at Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility.  We have helped our youth attend Camp Pyoca in the past, and, in 2010 and 2013, we had youth attend Triennium at Purdue University.

Our mission work at Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility began in the  fall of 2009, after the girls' arrival in Madison.  We give bi-monthly birthday parties in order to become acquainted with the girls and build relationships.  We also send a card to each girl on her birthday.  One of our members offers weekly Yoga classes with many eager participants.  In April, we began monthly worship services at  MJCF.  Through song, scripture and discussion, we share our message of God's love to the girls.

Another activity for our Mission Ministry is the end-of-the-month meal at The Salvation Army.  In 2009, we also celebrated Christmas with a unit of gentlemen at Madison State Hospital.
