Elder on Session: Shari Vaughn

Worship is an important part of our church life at Madison Presbyterian.  We believe worship is all about God.  In the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s Book of Common Worship, it is stated that "Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and honor, glory and power to the triune God.   In worship the people of God acknowledge God present in the world and in their lives.  As they respond to God's claim and redemptive actions in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed and renewed.  In worship the faithful offer themselves to God and are equipped for God's service in the world."

We at Madison Presbyterian have a traditional order of worship, using the Book of Common Worship, aided by written worship guides and hymnals.  Our worship services include inspiring music, unison readings, a special time for children, a choral anthem and congregational singing often accompanied by pipe organ music, a sermon based on lectionary readings, prayer time, an offering of money, and a monthly celebration of the sacrament of the Lord's Supper which usually is held on the first Sunday of the month.

We believe that our true worship begins as we leave the service to glorify and enjoy God forever through our words and actions in our everyday living.
